We Are One- Poem

Sitting here pondering what to do
I appreciate the fact that you are you
I love you for all the things you do right
And even in err, I love your insight
I never shall judge and why you will see
What shines off of you, reflects inside me
When the two join in conjuction traveling as one
That's when you'll see the journey easier done
So think before all actions, let your heart set you free
And always do remember, that you are part of me

*NOTE* -I wrote this poem (which was published) 14 years ago as a teenage girl. It voices my inner thoughts on key personal beliefs embedded in my being... that we are all living beings of the same sort, and it expresses my love for human life. Humanity is what unifies us. The fact our hearts all beat alike unifies us. Strip us of our skin tones, native accents, religious beliefs, economic status, or gender and the message is clear- We Are One! Human beings full of life. This is not new knowledge, not by any means. What it is, however, is the simplest logic lost in the multitude of distractions of every day life. It's a concept that I wish the entire planet would adopt.

Iran wanted me to bear witness...and I have.

Photobucket

I am nobody, but I am somebody. Somebody who cares for and respects human life everywhere. Somebody who has endured bearing witness to the events unfolding in Iran...as if I were IN Iran. Someone who is not Iranian, has no friends who are Iranian, yet has BECOME Iranian, who FEELS like an Iranian, whose heart beats like Iranians, & who loves Iranians. I am an American, and I am angry!

If the world could hear the scream of anger in my heart for the senseless deaths & torture in Iran, everyone would be DEAF!

This is how I feel after living vicariously through the eyes of Iran's citizens. Watching the multitude of atrocities being committed against the Iranian people has burned images in my mind I will never, EVER forget. I have cried watching the murders, winced & grimaced at the sight of torture victims (past & present), grieved with the families aching with the loss of their loved one, and felt the fury of wanting revenge. I was horrified to see the thieves in the night, stealing away people while they slept soundly all the while believing they were safe. Countless arrests, executions, beatings, rapes of men AND women, people of all ages cruelly being violated. All of this while peacefully expressing a thought-That the election was a fraud! Evil abounds in the hearts of those men responsible. The world HAS to bear witness! It is our duty as humans across the globe to do so. DO SOMETHING! Even if you are re-tweeting a message on Twitter someone else originated, you are playing an integral role in the greater good of things. You are raising awareness, and that is something that is greatly needed.

I want justice for Iran, freedom for Iran, human rights respected, equality and most of all freedom of the right to life. I want my scream to echo in the minds of all, because its all SO HORRIBLY WRONG that these precious things are being denied to those Iranians who greatly seek it.

Whatever God you believe in, or dont, it does not matter. We were all given one gift, and that is this life. That is what UNIFIES us all. We were all equally given a beating heart, and we all have the right to maintain that heartbeat. Therefore, we equally have to rise to support one another when hearts are being stopped. Wouldnt you want it done for yours???

Neda, Sohrab, Taraneh & every other martyr...with each bright flame that burns out, my resolve strengthens. I hear you Iran, and I am watching, & doing. I stand with you, hand in hand, heart to heart. Solidarity!

**NOTE** YOU CAN COMMENT ANONYMOUSLY FROM THE DROPDOWN MENU BELOW. WHAT ORIGINALLY STARTED OFF AS A BLOG OF MY THOUGHTS HAS TURNED INTO A COLLECTION PLACE FOR MESSAGES OF SOLIDARITY, HOPE, & UNDERSTANDING. PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE & SHARE. I WOULD LOVE FOR THOSE IN IRAN TO HEAR THE WORDS OF THE WORLD'S HEART'S & MIND'S. I CONSTANTLY SEED THIS, I PROMISE YOU WILL BE HEARD. SOMETIMES 140 CHARACTERS JUST ISNT ENOUGH!
